The USB260x is a USB 2.0 compound device that provides an interface between a single upstream USB Host port and a USB Hub with 3 downstream ports and a Flash Card Media Controller.
The USB2602 features xD Picture Card™ format support for licensees of that format.
The USB260x provides a single chip solution for the most prevalent options for transfer of digital media - popular flash memory cards and USB Hub ports which can be used for any USB mass storage device including digital cameras, flash drives and MP3 Players. If PictBridge is supported on the USB host then the downstream ports can also be used for PictBridge.
The device consists of a USB 2.0 upstream PHY, 3 downstream Hub PHYs, Hub controller with three transaction translators for FS/LS USB traffic, 8051 microprocessor with expanded scratchpad, and program SRAM, and CF, MS, SM and SD controllers. The device can support up to 4 slot flash memory operation and has the card power MOSFETS integrated on chip.

Using a single USB cable, customers can physically place USB port expansion and flash reader slots anywhere in the system for easy user access.Minimum board area savings of 100mm2. Additional board space and BOM cost savings from reduced support component count and elimination of two external USB connections.Power consumption is reduced by 360mW when compared to the equivalent multi-chip solution.Customers benefit from the high quality on chip ROM code that is compatibility and compliance tested for the latest format support.Card compatibility testing across manufacturers ensures good end customer experience and obsoletes the need for flash program memory except for systems with custom features.Mask ROM operation enables lowest cost for embedded Applications.Integrated card power FETs with short circuit protection decrease BOM cost and increase reliability when embedded into larger systems.Firmware and hardware low power features enable USB reduced power consumption in portable applications by configuration from EEPROM.ROM code configuration options provide the greatest flexibility for adding features.Strong Flash Media Read/Write performance enables the benefits of USB 2.0 transfer speeds to be realized by end customers.Robust silicon design enables two layer board design.Customer Profile
